Honorary Award Clarification

Understanding the LBBS Honorary Doctorate (Honoris Causa)

At London Bridge Business School, UK (LBBS), we are committed to recognising global excellence in leadership, innovation, philanthropy, and public service. As part of our mission as a UK-registered executive education platform, we confer honorary doctorate degrees (honoris causa) upon distinguished individuals who have made significant contributions to their communities, industries, or society at large.

What Is an Honorary Doctorate?

An honorary doctorate is a symbolic award. It is not the result of academic study, research, or formal coursework, and it is not equivalent to an earned PhD or professional qualification.

Honorary degrees are traditionally granted by institutions worldwide as a means of celebrating outstanding impact and recognising extraordinary leadership. They are ceremonial in nature and should never be mistaken for academic credentials.

LBBS Is Not a Traditional University

We wish to make the following clear:

Our honorary awards are non-academic and should never be used to imply earned academic status.

Why We Confer Honorary Awards

LBBS bestows honorary degrees upon individuals who have:

All recipients are carefully vetted, with nominations subject to review by our academic advisory board.

Use of Honorary Titles

We encourage recipients to represent their award with clarity and integrity.

Honorees should always include the term “honorary” or “(Honoris Causa)” when using the title “Doctor” in public listings, to avoid confusion or misrepresentation.

These awards do not entitle recipients to use the title “Dr.” professionally in contexts requiring earned qualifications (such as academia, medicine, or regulated professions).
