Honorary Awards: Criteria & Selection Process
Overview
At London Bridge Business School (LBBS), we honour exceptional individuals who have demonstrated outstanding achievements in leadership, innovation, social impact, public service, and enterprise. Our Honorary Doctorate (Honoris Causa) is a symbolic recognition, conferred to celebrate lifetime achievements and distinguish remarkable individuals who have made a lasting contribution to their field or society.
These awards are non-academic, ceremonial in nature, and do not result from formal study or research.
Eligibility Criteria
Honorary awards may be considered for individuals who meet one or more of the following criteria:
1. Leadership Excellence
- Demonstrated visionary leadership in business, government, non-profit, or academia
- Successfully led major initiatives that brought sustainable development or transformation
2. Social or Community Impact
- Proven contributions to social causes, humanitarian efforts, education, or youth development
- Implementation of impactful programmes that benefit disadvantaged or underserved communities
3. Innovation & Thought Leadership
- Pioneering work or original thinking that has shaped or advanced a professional field or discipline
- Notable publications, inventions, or policy influence
4. Entrepreneurial Achievement
- Built or scaled a business or organisation that has had a significant socio-economic impact
- Demonstrated ethical, inclusive and responsible entrepreneurship
5. Cultural or Global Influence
- Contribution to international cooperation, peace, interfaith dialogue, arts, or cross-cultural understanding
- Recognition on a regional, national, or global level
Note: Nominees do not need to be alumni of LBBS. However, the award is not intended for political gain or commercial promotion.
Nomination Process
We accept nominations on a rolling basis throughout the year. All submissions are reviewed by the LBBS Honours Committee.
Step 1: Submission of Nomination Form
Nominations may be submitted by:
- Individuals (self-nomination allowed)
- Organisations
- Alumni
- Academic or professional institutions
Nomination form must include:
- Full name and CV/biography of the nominee
- Description of achievements and justification for award
- Supporting documents (news coverage, media links, awards, etc.)
- Contact details of nominator
Step 2: Initial Screening
- LBBS reviews all nominations to ensure they meet baseline criteria.
- Incomplete or unverifiable submissions will not proceed.
Step 3: Evaluation by Honours Committee
- The Committee evaluates each eligible nominee based on merit, impact, integrity, and alignment with LBBS values.
- External references or further documentation may be requested.
Step 4: Final Approval
- Selected candidates are presented to the LBBS Academic Advisory Board for formal endorsement.
- Successful nominees are notified via email and official letter.
Step 5: Conferment Ceremony
- Honorary awards are typically conferred during an LBBS official ceremony or special recognition event, in the UK or at one of our global partner locations.
- Awardees may be invited to deliver a short address to inspire learners and emerging leaders.
Notes for Nominees & Nominators
- The award is symbolic and non-academic; it does not entitle the bearer to the same rights as earned degrees.
- Public representation of the award should always include the qualifier “Honorary” or “(Honoris Causa)”.
- LBBS reserves the right to revoke an award if misused or if misconduct is discovered post-award.
