1. Purpose of This Policy

This policy defines the criteria, process, and standards by which LBBS confers honorary doctoral titles.
It ensures ethical alignment, safeguards the non-academic nature of the honours, and protects the integrity of both the institution and recipients.

2. What is an Honorary Doctorate?

An honorary doctorate is a symbolic recognition awarded to distinguished individuals who have made extraordinary contributions to business, leadership, entrepreneurship, management, or public service.
It is not an academic degree and does not equate to a PhD or any formal educational qualification.

3. Available Categories

LBBS currently awards honorary doctorates in the following categories:

  • Doctor of Business Administration (DBA h.c) – For outstanding business leadership and impact.
  • Doctor of Entrepreneurship (D.Ent h.c) – For visionary founders and entrepreneurial leaders.
  • Doctor of Management (DMgt h.c) – For excellence in organisational growth and strategy.
  • Doctor of Leadership (DLead h.c) – For transformational leadership in public or private sectors.

4. Eligibility Criteria

To qualify for nomination:

  • A minimum of 10 years of verifiable leadership experience
  • Demonstrated national or international impact in relevant fields
  • Public service, philanthropy, innovation, or business leadership
  • Must not be currently involved in criminal, fraudulent, or unethical conduct

5. Nomination & Selection Process

Nominations may be made by peers, institutions, or by the individual themselves. The process includes:

  • Nomination Submission
  • Documentation Review
  • Vetting & Due Diligence
  • Final Approval by the LBBS Board of Recognition & Awards

6. Conferral & Presentation

Successful candidates are conferred honorary degrees at official LBBS events, such as:

  • LBBS Global Leadership Summits
  • Executive Forums or Private Ceremonies

Each recipient receives a certificate of recognition, citation, and optional academic robe. Participation fees may apply to cover event and documentation logistics — this does not influence the award decision.

7. Appropriate Use of Title

Awardees may use the honorary title with appropriate formatting. For example:

Dr. Jane Doe, DBA (h.c)

However, awardees must not claim to hold an academic PhD or misrepresent the nature of the award. Misuse may lead to revocation.

8. Ethics & Revocation

LBBS reserves the right to revoke any award if:

  • Misrepresentation or misconduct is later discovered
  • The honour is misused in fraudulent or misleading ways
  • The recipient violates major public trust or ethics

All revocation decisions go through a formal review process.
